Centre Québecois sur les Matériaux Fonctionnels (CQMF) - strategic network

CQMF is a research network established and financed by Quebec's Ministry of Economy and Innovation (MEI). The CQMF focusses on the study and the design of functional materials with a special emphasis on three research themes: self-assembly, nanostructures and polymers.  Such innovative materials are engineered with an eye to biomedical, environmental and energy applications.

The RQMP gathers seventy physicists, chemists and engineers, who design, synthesize and characterize new materials and material assemblies, to modulate at the atomic scale their physical, electrical and magnetic properties in order to adapt their properties to specific applications.

RESEARCH CENTER FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE POLYMER AND COMPOSITE SYSTEMS
CREPEC’s scientific goals are to develop the next generation of high performance polymer and composite hybrid systems as well as their production processes and multi-scale characterization. Considering the push towards sustainable materials, this goal will ensure Quebec’s front line position on value added polymer and composite science and engineering.

CREPEC focuses on high level interuniversity collaborations, training of highly qualified professionals, development of industrial partnerships and technological transfer, sharing of unique equipment, national and international recognition and support of promising new scientists.

Centre optique et photonique Laser (COPL) - strategic network

The COPL is the Quebec cluster of recognized experts in optics and photonics. Its research excellence, state-of-the-art facilities and comprehensive scientific program position the COPL among the best centers in the world for optics and photonics training and research.

Regroupement Stratégique en microsystèmes du Québec (RESMIQ) - strategic network

The ReSMiQ, known originaly as GRIAO, was founded in 1985 by four Montréal institutions: Concordia University, École Polytechnique de Montréal, McGill University and Université de Montréal. The center is geared toward advanced research in computer and system architectures, analog and mixed-signal circuit design, testing and verification, system-Level design and applications such as telecommunications, biomedical devices, RF circuits and signal processing algorithms and circuits.

Green Surface Engineering for Advanced Manufacturing - Concordia University

five fundamental themes related to the synthesis of micro/nanostructured coatings with tailored properties
1. Environmental Protection: Protect metallic and plastic surfaces from hot gasses, corrosion and erosion using thermal and cold spray techniques in the application of metallic coatings.
2. Multifunctional Coatings : Next-generation coatings must possess multiple characteristics combining traditional protective benefits with new functionalities to produce multi-purpose and multifunctional coating systems.
3. Process and Coating Development : Enhance performance by developing hybrid coating systems specific to real-life applications
4. Performance and Characterization Assessment : Enhance performance by developing hybrid coating systems specific to real-life applications
5. Life Cycle Analysis : Adopt integrated Life Cycle Assessment approaches to coating development and applications to maximize environmental benefits and minimize adverse impacts for all new technologies its members explore.
 

NSERC-Green Electronics Network (GreEN) - Laval University

The chief objective of NSERC-GreEN is to be one of the first groups in the world to develop a wide range of environmentally-benign printed sensor technologies for smart packaging, based on new organic functional materials and on the adaptation of conventional printing techniques for this cutting-edge application. This objective will be achieved under the following two research themes:

Institut interdisciplinaire d'innovation technologique (3iT) - Université de Sherbrooke

To offer an infrastructure for scientific innovation and technology maturation, from idea to marketing, device to proof-of- concept and validation, by supporting the collaborative work of university researchers and industrial members, and by integra- ting the disciplines of nano and microtechnologies, biomedical engineering, telecommunications, information systems, robotics, ethics of technological development and innovation management.

Facility for Electron Microscopy Research (FEMR) -  Mc Gill University

The Facility for Electron Microscopy Research (FEMR) is a world-class, open access electron microscopy facility at McGill University. The FEMR offers a comprehensive range of electron microscopy (EM) resources, expertise and services for both routine and advanced sample preparation, electron microscopy imaging, and analysis of biological matter, hydrated and beam-sensitive materials, and ambient temperature materials.

Centre de Caractérisation Microscopique des Matériaux (CM2)- Polytechnique Montréal

The (CM)2 is active in the following fields :

metal matrix composites: understanding and fundamental phenomena and utilization;
powder metallurgy: powder compressibility improvement, development of alloys with a better machining behavior;
zinc galvanized and galvannealed coatings: fundamental and applied research;
integrated microscopy: the Centre is developing software for the acquisition, treatment and quantification of spectrum images based on both electron energy loss spectroscopy and X-ray spectrometry. Researchers are currently at work on a new integrated image-analysis system.

The research conducted at LM2 mainly deals with metals, polymers, polymer composites, nanocomposites, and living matter. It covers manufacturing, service performance, fluid-structure interactions and mechanical instabilities.

Centre de recherche sur les matériaux avancés (CERMA) - Université laval

CERMA is a research center dedicated to the development, study and use of new functional materials. As a multifaceted center, it brings together 18 researchers from a wide variety of backgrounds from the fields of pharmacy, electrical or chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, medicine and wood sciences.

Nanostructures and Femtosecond Science Facility (INF)  - INRS-EMT

 Founded by the INRS at Varennes, the Infrastructure of Nanostructures and Femtoscience (INF) represents an investment of more than 60 M $ coming mainly from 3 major grants received since 2002 by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and the Québec government. It regroups two complementary installations that are unique in Canada.

The first one is the LMN (Laboratory of Micro- and Nanofabrication) which allow to reach and exploit the infinitely small, and answer the needs of many high technology sector in terms of, on one hand, nanomaterials synthesis and, on the other hand, nanostructures fabrication for the development of devices prototypes. The second one is the ALLS (Advanced Laser Light Source) which aim is to explore the physico-chimical processes of matter at the molecular scale using femto- and attoseconde light sources, and offer innovation capabilities in the domain of ultrafast instrumentation and biomedical imagery.

the GCM regroups expert personnel and state of the art equipment from Ecole Polytechnique and the University of Montreal to offer services to the industry and the academic field. We are specialized in unique or complex projects in the following fields:

Centre National en électrochimie et en Technologies Environnementales (CNETE)

The CTMP is a non-profit organization (NPO) whose mission is to support Quebec companies and organizations in the mineral and plastics sectors.
The Centre carries out applied research, technical assistance, training and informative activities for both sectors of activity.
