Joint Call 2026
The Call 2026 aims to fund ambitious transnational research and innovation on advanced materials and contribute to Europe’s scientific excellence, technology leadership and global competitiveness.
The M-ERA.NET Call 2026 is launched on 4 March 2026. 35 funding agencies participate with an indicative budget of about 40 million €.
The pre-proposal phase is closed. 514 pre-proposals have been submitted by 2465 research groups. This is the highest number of pre-proposals within a call in the history of M-ERA.NET.
Feedback to applicants will be provided in late September 2026.

Call Schedule:
- Pre-Proposal Deadline is 12 May 2026, 12:00 noon, Brussels time.
- Full-Proposal Deadline is 18 November 2026, 12:00 noon, Brussels time

- Materials for energy storage and distribution systems
- Materials for energy conversion
- Innovative surfaces, coatings and interfaces
- Innovative functional materials with defined architectures
- Materials addressing environmental challenges
- Next generation materials for electronics
Materials for energy storage and distribution systems
The scope covers innovative materials, devices and systems that store and distribute any kind of energy (electrical, chemical, mechanical, thermal energy, among others).

This topic supports the development and deployment of advanced materials and processes that accelerate the energy transition across generation, conversion and mobility.

Surface and coating technologies are key enablers for new solutions across numerous industrial sectors worldwide.

The scope of topic 4 covers the development of materials and material systems with defined architectures that provide specific properties and desired functionalities.

Materials addressing environmental challenges
The reduction of resources and waste and increased materials recyclability, in accordance with a sustainable development, is becoming a necessity related to decarbonization and circular economy.
