Com­po­si­te rein­for­ce­ment in a light stain­less steel bus struc­tu­re - Hy­bri­d_beams

Pro­ject sum­ma­ry

The pro­ject fo­cu­ses on the de­ve­lo­p­ment and tes­ting of a hy­brid bus struc­tu­re parts that will be a com­bi­na­ti­on of CFRP, foam and stain­less steel. Spe­cial in­ten­ti­on is fo­cus­sed to lower the struc­tu­re mass and in­crea­se stiff­ness re­sis­tance to crash and fa­ti­gue da­ma­ge. The new bus struc­tu­re con­cept with the ad­di­ti­on of car­bon fibre and foam, use as local rein­for­ced, makes the new light struc­tu­re more use­ful and ef­fec­ti­ve to electric buses, hy­dro­gen buses and CNG buses. The be­ha­viour of the real hy­brid struc­tu­re will be de­mon­s­tar­ted by tests and FEM cal­cu­la­ti­on on a part of bus struc­tu­re.
